Laughter is the best medicine and the best way to fight stress. If you’re having a hard time getting through the day, you might want to consider using funny vines to keep you company. Unlike Facebook or Instagram, a short form video hosting service named Vine made the grade. Despite a lot of hype, it was not a failure as some of its kin would have you believe. It lasted around four years before the last mortal was tossed in the proverbial garbage bin. Despite its short shelf life, Vine’s baffling features kept it fresh enough to spawn a plethora of acrobatic vloggers, some of whom are still strutting their stuff. Among them is one of the most infamous Vine victims, whose snazzy-named avatar is currently on the lam. It was a rough ride capped off with a hefty pay cut, but that’s another story.
Germany
Unlike any other wines in the world, German wines are unique. They include aromatic Pinot Noir and mineral-tinged Riesling. They also produce top-notch sparkling wines called Sekt. There are a variety of German wine styles, including sparkling wine and country wine.
The northern climate of Germany makes it difficult to produce quality grapes, so German wineries have been experimenting with new hybrids. These new varieties are popular for their high quality and fungus resistance.
There are three classifications for German wines: Trocken (dry), Halbtrocken (sweet) and Pradikat (sweet with low residual sugar). The classifications reflect the ripeness of the grapes at harvest, as well as the total sugar content in the grapes.
France
Phylloxera was the scourge of the wine industry, wreaking havoc on millions of acres of vines. While it was unheard of at the time, it’s alleged that the little aphid jumped the Atlantic and landed in France unnoticed in the 1850s. That’s the time when phylloxera was at its most prolific, causing 40% of France’s vineyards to go south of the Sahara in less than a decade.
The best way to combat this scourge was to import native American vines. A slew of American vitis vinifera varieties were imported into Europe in the mid-1800s. These vines were a big improvement over their French cousins, but they weren’t immune to phylloxera.
Spain
Using Spanish language skills can save you from inconvenient circumstances. It can also help you avoid misunderstandings with friends and family. If you are looking for Spanish vines, here are some YouTube channels that will be helpful.
Juanpa Zurita is a Mexican comedian who has a channel in Spanish and English. He is also popular on Vine. The channel has a lot of funny vines in Spanish, but also has some serious topics that can be of use to those who learn Spanish.
Juanpa Zurita’s videos are mostly in Spanish, but some are in English. His videos are usually short and contain Spanish slang. Some are also interactive, so they’re more like lessons than videos.

Whether you are a resident of the Far East or an ostensibly cool ol’ bloke from down under, you are bound to have a vested interest in what’s hot in the land of the rising sun. As a matter of fact, you have likely watched the following videos at least once. And if you haven’t, you will certainly be watching them again, as well as their counterparts. It’s a shame we can’t have them all in one place, as they would be the perfect complement to one another. In fact, we could probably start a mini-series.
While we are on the subject of fun and games, the following video narrated by the aforementioned galoot would make for a good night in. And while you’re at it, you might as well drop in a few coins for the booze. You won’t regret it.
