Mikel Arteta’s team has enjoyed a perfect start to the 2022–23 season, winning their first three Premier League games. The north Londoners are already comfortably in first place on the log, with newly promoted Fulham visiting next this weekend.
The Gunners will face a difficult assignment when they host the Cottagers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night. The new boys are also unbeaten so far this season and will be looking to put behind their unwanted record of getting relegated every time.
Away from the field, there is still plenty of transfer talk about Arsenal on the transfer front.
Hector Bellerin and Nicolas Pepe are two players who are likely to be leaving the Emirates in the coming days, while there is talk of Youri Tielemans and Pedro Neto moving to north London.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has stated the Gunners are still seeking to be active in the market before the transfer season ends on September 1.
“We will try to the end,” Arteta said on Saturday. “The transfer window is tricky at the moment, we would like to do something else but let’s see what we can do.”
Neto interest
As the competition to sign the Wolves winger heats up, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Pedro Neto is actually considering a move to Arsenal.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who West Ham want to sign, and Nicolas Pepe, who is close to signing a loan deal to Nice, must go if the Gunners are to get the 22-year-old winger.
Speaking on his “Here We Go” podcast, Romano claimed that Arsenal’s interest in the Portuguese side is still strong, but said that if a move is to be completed before September 1st, outgoings must come first.
Tielemans still on the radar
The summer transfer market has been dominated by reports linking Youri Tielemans, a central midfielder for Leicester City, to Arsenal.
With only about ten months left on his deal with the Foxes, Tielemans may be available this summer at a bargain price, and the Gunners are reportedly interested in bringing him to north London as well. However, there are still a few days until the deadline to complete any deal.
According to a source, Leicester is prepared to reduce their asking price for Youri Tielemans to around £17 million.
With only a year left on his Leicester contract, the midfielder has been strongly linked with a transfer to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Nice and Arsenal are negotiating a loan deal for winger Nicolas Pepe who is believed to be out of Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal.
Pepe is currently in the last two years of his deal with the Emirates and hasn’t started a Premier League game since October.
Mari joins Monza on loan from Arsenal
Pablo Mari has joined Serie A newcomers AC Monza on loan for the 2022/23 season. The 28-year-old first joined the Gunners on loan from Brazilian team Flamengo in January 2020, and made the move permanent in the summer. He has made only 22 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions since joining.
